WA State Governor’s Proclamation for Bigfoot Day

For the second consecutive year, I requested a Ceremonial Proclamation for Bigfoot Day in the state of Washington on August 26th from Governor Jay Inslee and for the second consecutive year, the request was denied.

Dear Ryan:
Thank you for your request for a Ceremonial Proclamation for Bigfoot Day in the state of Washington on August 26th.
Unfortunately we will not be able to issue your proclamation at this time.We apologize that we are unable to fulfill your request.
We look forward to assisting you with future requests.
Sincerely,
Constituent Services
Office of Governor Jay Inslee

The idea was to recognize the historical and cultural importance of Bigfoot/Sasquatch to Washington State. Not Bigfoot as an individual, but Bigfoot or Sasquatch as a cultural symbol of Washington State.
Washington has the most sightings of any state and has a rich history and passionate community formed around Bigfoot. The largest database of reports has more sightings in Pierce County than reports in 26 States.

August 26th, 2020, is the 50th anniversary of Governor Dan Evans executive order concerning Bigfoot.

This year, Inslee’s Office at least sent me a response. In 2019, I received a call and voicemail after I followed up on my request. A records request last year found that Inslee’s Office did quite a bit of follow up and back and forth with others who requested Proclamations, but according to the records I was provided, there was no email correspondence or other documents related to my request besides my original request.

Here is the Proclamation I requested:

WHEREAS, Bigfoot is recognized as an important historical and cultural icon in Washington State, contributing to the State economy in tourism and drawing people from across the United States and other countries to the many events and conferences organized in Washington.

WHEREAS, Washington State has the most reported sightings of Bigfoot of any state in the United States.

WHEREAS, the 1975 Washington Environmental Atlas, created by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, recognized Bigfoot/Sasquatch on page 73 as an “important animal”.

WHEREAS, August 26th marks the 50th anniversary of Washington State Governor Dan Evans declaration of Bigfoot being protected in Washington State and that Bigfoot is the ‘State Monster’ in 1970.

NOW THEREFORE, I, Jay Inslee, Governor of the state of Washington, do hereby proclaim August 26th,
2020 as Washington Bigfoot Day in Washington, and I urge all people in our state to join me I the special
observance.

Either way, I, Ryan Leisinger, Bigfoot Champion for Washington State, do hereby proclaim August 26th,
2020 as Washington Bigfoot Day in Washington!

  1. Bigfoot encounter! I’d LOVE to go back to Little Green Peak Mtn., above Quilcene, with a crew with microphones, cameras, and tools for contact. He followed me along the logging road. It was about 6 years ago but there is NO ONE UP THERE, thats Human anyway! lol Yep, two legs in the woods not 15 feet from me! Scared, but I didn’t run. All my weapons were in the CAR! Not a knife on me! Female, alone, long Blonde hair to my waist, in my true Alaskan Wolf coat, he probably wondered what I was… lol Anyone interested in stopping by Everett to pick me up, head for the Olympic Peninsula and Quilcene? Its October now, a ton of snow up there. Will be clearing up again around late April/May 2021. Lets go!!!
