Washington Bigfoot Day 2021 – August 26th

August 26th is Washington Bigfoot Day!

For the past several years, I have requested Governor Inslee create a Ceremonial Proclamation to declare August 26th Washington Bigfoot Day.

The reason is that on August 26th, 1970, Washington State Governor Dan Evans declared Bigfoot protected in WA State and that Bigfoot was the ‘State Monster’.

This year I didn’t even fill out the proclamation paperwork to try. My past attempts have not been granted and my requests for public records on the possible reasons have not uncovered anything.

So it might not be “official”, but that shouldn’t stop us from recognizing it.

  1. Interesting read! I’ve been on a “finding bigfoot and other cryptids” obsession reading blogs and watching documentaries/videos. I recently found a new show that just came out on discovery+ called Alaskan Killer Bigfoot – and so far it’s a really enjoyable watch!! It’s about the mysteriously abandoned Portlock, Alaska which hasn’t been lived on for the past 70 years and still today because the inhabitants felt threatened by a Bigfoot-like creature so they fled off the land. The show follows an expedition group who go back to Portland to see if the land can be lived on once again, but of course they fear a cryptid during their journey.
