48th Anniversary of Bigfoot As The Official WA State Monster

Today is the 48th anniversary of Bigfoot as the Washington State Official Monster.

On August 26th, 1970, Washington State Governor Dan Evans declared Bigfoot protected in WA State and that Bigfoot was the ‘State Monster’.

The document cites a non-existent Revised Code of Washington (RCW), 00.00.000, so the legality of the document as an executive order definitely could be challenged.

While the document is classic, some of the memos that it spurred are equally as awesome.

Below is the text from the original proclamation signed by Washington State Governor Dan Evans.

PROCLAMATION: DESIGNATION OF STATE MONSTER

WHEREAS, Recent developments has show that Washington State has only
one true mysterious monster, the Great Sasquatch, and it is endangered
of imminent extinction and

WHEREAS, we are the only state that is able to claim the Sasquatch as
our own.

NOW, THEREFORE, I Daniel J Evans, by viture and authority vested in me
by RCW 00.00.000 do proclaim all Sasquatchii within the border of our
great state (and anywhere else) protected as a Washington State resource
and hereafter, the Official State Monster.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have caused
my machine to forge my signature
and have affixed a lock of hair
from the right front shoulder of
the Sasquatch, this twenty-sixth
day of August, nineteen hundred
and seventy.

Governor of Washington

The hair attached to the document was never tested,

  1. I believe and have had a vocalization in Glacier W& 2017 the vid production crew I was working with 6 of them all heard it as we were getting b-roll of the night sky at 11pm and loud scream came off the hill by us that night going back this summer to do a scout of the area. I’m also the founder of the Pacific North West Sasquatch Research Group we are growing strong please support us. thanks Craig Y

  2. I believe, back in early summer of 2015, I heard the bigfoot, while in my camper in Gold Bar Nature Trail, close to May Creek. At that time, I didn’t know what I heard, what woke me up around 3 am, but it scared me so much, that I was frozen for a few minutes and couldn’t even move. As it was coming closer down on the dirt road, I look out the window, but it was pitch dark and could see only some kind of shadow passing about 60 feet from me, going towards the creek. The next morning, I started to do some research on the internet, trying to figure out, what kind of animal sounds like a siren and I came across the so called “Ohio Howl”. And that’s what I heard, exactly.
