On April 11th, 2023, Clallam County became the 4th Washington State County, joining Skamania, Whatcom, and Grays Harbor, to pass a proclamation or resolution protecting Bigfoot.

As with the Grays Harbor proclamation, Ms. Andrews’ fifth grade class at Lincoln Elementary School in Hoquiam was responsible.
Well, my class did it again. 5th graders are saving Sasquatch one county at a time. As of yesterday Clallam County has an official proclamation protecting Sasquatch. After researching Bigfoot and writing an awesome persuasive letter, they got to zoom in to the county meeting yesterday. I’m so proud of those kids! – Andrea Andrews
Clallam County is the northern most county on the Olympia Peninsula. With a population of around 80,000 people, it includes the cities of Forks, Port Angeles, and Clallam Bay. The county includes many Bigfoot attractions and numerous Bigfoot themed businesses, including the Sasquatch The Legend Store in Forks.
Much of the 2600 square miles of the county is forest and forest land, including parts of the Olympic National Park, Olympia National Forest, the Makah Indian Reservation, the Ozette Indian Reservation, the Ho river, and Lake Crescent.
WHEREAS, legends, sightings, research, investigation and recognition by various counties in various States support the notion that Sasquatch (aka Bigfoot, yeti, and giant hairy ape) exists; and
WHEREAS, if Sasquatch exists, it is not flourishing, given the very unusual event of being sighted, and it is likely an endangered species and subject to great harm and extinction if it continues to be unprotected;
WHEREAS, Clallam County desires that its citizens recognize the need to protect Sasquatch if it exists;
NOW THEREFORE, WE THE BOARD OF CLALLAM COUNTY COMMISSIONERS hereby Request all citizens of Clallam County recognize this County as a refuge for Sasquatch to prove both protection and security and also supports the Forks Sasquatch Day, May 26th through May 28th, 2023.
