Brinson Monster

It was the fall of 1967, 35,000 anti-war demonstrators rallied at the Lincoln Memorial before marching on the Pentagon in protest of the Vietnam War and NASA was testing Saturn rockets. Meanwhile in Winlock, Washington, teenagers were being teenagers, drinking and making out in cars. Winlock is small town in Lewis County, with a population of about 800 people in the 1960s. Established to support the lumber industry in the 1870s and producer of many eggs, there isn’t much to Winlock, but they do have a monster.

The monster was described as white or grey with red eyes. It was seen multiple times and reportingly even shot.
Captured on Report # 1564 which was submitted to the Bigfoot Field Research Organization by George Hofmann on Sunday, December 1, 1996.

The reports weren’t thought of as a “Bigfoot” report in 1967, but seemed to more fall under the “monster” category.

We didn’t know about bigfoot or sasquatches in those days, they had not been popularized yet. People just didn’t know what to make of it.

Since the report gained some popularity, the location of the event seems to get a bit weird. The general location is labeled as Brenson or Brinson Hallow, with the location being near the intersection of South West Kerron Road/Winlock Vader Highway and Jones Road. Additionally, Snow Family Cemetary to the South West several miles has drawn paranormal researchers, who have claimed experieinces including the reports of the monsters similar to the Brinson Monster.

The fall of 1967 was also prime Mothman activity in Point Pleasant West Virginia and when the Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin film was captured in Northern California.
