An Open Letter to Oklahoma Bigfoot

From Washington Bigfoot
Saturday, January 30th, 2021

In light of recent activities in the great state of Oklahoma, initiated by Republican State Representative Justin Humphry’s of the 19th District, I write this correspondence to extend my sincere condolences concerning the hurt you must be feeling caused by Humphry’s legislation to create a Bigfoot Hunting Season in the Sooner State.

Oklahoma House Bill 1648 would direct the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission to establish a Bigfoot hunting season, starting as soon as November 1st, 2021.

While the chances of the bill becoming law are slim, this unnecessary and cruel legislation makes it clear that Oklahoma may not be the safest place for Bigfoot and that is why I am extending to you the idea of relocating to Washington State.

Washington is the perfect place in the United States to be Bigfoot. Forests cover about half the state’s land area. Two-thirds of Washington’s forests are publicly owned, including 64% of federally owned land. Washington has many different geographies and climates, from the rain soaked Olympic Peninsula, to the forests and mountains of the Cascades, to the drier grasslands and beautiful rivers of Eastern Washington.

Washington already has two counties that have ordinances or resolutions currently protecting Bigfoot, Whatcom County, bordering Canada and Skamania County in the south western part of the state. If a Bigfoot is looking for a safe place to move, either of these counties would be a good place to start. In recent years, the Washington State Legislature has flirted with creating laws that make Bigfoot the official state Cryptid or selling custom Bigfoot themed license plates to raise money for State Parks, a stark contrast to creating a Bigfoot Hunting season.

In Washington State, you won’t be alone. Reports collected by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization show Washington as a consistent leader in the total number of Bigfoot reports they document in their database, with 689 reports compared to Oklahoma’s 106. Washington is the home of multiple Bigfoot conferences and events every year which draw thousands of people and it is common place to see Bigfoot stickers on cars and trucks.

In conclusion, consider coming to the safe and Bigfoot allowing forests and mountains of Washington State. We welcome you.

Sincerely,
Ryan Leisinger
